What is JRF?

Do you know what exactly is JRF? We will explain it to you. JRF is the short form of Junior Reserarch Fellowship. If a candidate qualify for JRF he will be eligible to apply for PhD in their particular disciple. JRF qualified candidates receive Rs. 31,000 per month as stipend for the first two years. This stipend may be increased on the recommendation of a committee. The upper age limit for JRF is 28 years.

Candidates who qualify only for NET will not be eligible for the stipend however they can apply for lectureship.

What is difference between CSIR NET and UGC NET?

CSIR NET exam is organized only for the science stream subjects whereas UGC NET Exam is conducted for almost all subjects of every stream. CSIR NET Exam has only one paper of 3 hours while UGC NET has two papers with 3 hours.

Which is better JRF or NET?

To qualify for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) you have to score more than NET. Thus clearing for JRF is more difficult than just clearing for NET.

28 Years. The maximum age of a candidate under general category to qualify under JRF has been capped to 28 years. However it is 31 years for OBC candidates and 33 years for SC/ST candidates.
