Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has released the final result of its judicial services exam of 2020. Candidates may check their result from the official website.

Educational Qualification- Bachelor of Law (LL.B.)

Pattern of Examination/ Selection Procedure-

Bihar Judicial Services exam is conducted in three phases.

  1. Prelims
  2. Mains
  3. Interview/ Personality Test

Prelims-

This is the first test which the candidates has to go through. BPSC Judiciary prelims has two papers.

a)Paper I- General Knowledge- This paper has 100 objective type questions of general studies.

b) Paper II- Law- This paper tests the basic understanding of candidates about their knowledge of law. This paper has 150 objective type questions of law from various Acts. Candidates has to select the best option as his/ her answer.

Mains Exam-

This phase will have descriptive type questions for which candidates have to write an answer. This test is more comprehensive and test the candidates’ ability to understand the concepts of law and its interpretation.

Mains exam has total of 8 papers out of which 5 are compulsory papers and 3 papers are optional papers. There will be 5 optional subjects available for students out of which 3 subjects has to be chosen by candidates. Maximum marks for all 8 subjects is 1050.

Compulsory Subjects-

  1. General Knowledge, including current affairs
  2. Elementary General Science
  3. General Hindi
  4. General English
  5. Law of Evidence and Procedure

Optional Subjects- Choose 3 subjects from these

  1. Constitutional and Administrative Law of India
  2. Hindu Law & Muhammadan Law
  3. Law of Transfer of Property and Principles of Equity, Law of Trusts and Specific Relief
  4. Law of Contracts & Torts
  5. Commercial Law

Interview/ Personality Test-

When you clear the above two stages, you will be called for an interview. Interview has total 100 marks of which you have to secure a minimum of 35 % of marks to be considered for the final merit list. This is also called the personality test because this tests the overall personality of the candidates for the relevant post.

Bihar Judiciary mains has total 8 papers out of which 5 papers are compulsory papers and 3 papers are optional papers which has to be selected by the candidates.
