Bihar Judicial Services exam is conducted in 3 stages.
- Preliminary Objective type Test
- Mains Written Test
- Personality Test/ Interview
The syllabus of each stages of the above examination is given below
1. Preliminary Objective type Test
This stage shall consist of two papers of
Paper 1- General Studies – 100 Marks
(General Knowledge including current affairs and Elementary General Science)
Paper 2- Law – 150 Marks
- Law of Evidence & Procedure
- Constitutional and Administrative Law of India
- Hindu Law & Muhammadan Law
- Law of Transfer of Property, Principles of Equity, Law of Trusts and Specific Relief Act
- Law of Contracts & Torts
- Commercial Law
2. Mains Written Test
Mains paper shall consist of 8 papers. 5 papers will be compulsory in nature however 3 others will be optional papers that has to be chosen from a list of 5 papers.
Compulsory Papers- These 5 papers given below are compulsory papers that has to be given by all the candidates who have cleared the preliminary examination.

3. Personality Test/ Interview- 100 Marks
This test will assess the overall personality of the individual and will check the suitability of the candidate for the post. Personality test will be of 100 marks out of which securing at least 35 marks is compulsory to be considered for the final selection.
The final merit list will be prepared by adding the marks of mains examination and personality test.
