What is CTET-

CTET is a test for those who want to pursue teaching as a career. CTET is conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Passing this test is compulsory for teaching in primary and upper primary government schools. So if you fulfill the eligibility criteria for giving the test you can apply for CTET exam now which is going to be conducted in December 2022.

CTET Full Form-

CTET is the short from of Central Teachers Eligibility Test. CBSE has released the short notification for CTET examination 2022 which scheduled to be conducted in December. Application Fee-

  • For Single Paper :
    • General / OBC / EWS: 1000/-
    • SC / ST / PH : 500/-
  • For Both Papers :
    • General / OBC / EWS: 1200/-
    • SC / ST / PH : 600/-

Eligibility Criteria-

Candidates pursuing any Teachers Training Course (TTC) are eligible to apply to CTET. In other words candidates who have passed or had taken admission in B.Ed, D.El.Ed or BTC course are eligible to apply for the exam. Candidates can give this exam any number of times and Certificate of CTET score will be valid for lifetime. However if candidates want to improve their score in CTET they can apply again to improve their score.

Pattern of Examination-

CTET exam has two papers however both the papers are not compulsory. Candidates can opt for which paper they want to give.
(i) Paper I will be for a person who wants to be a teacher for classes I to V.
(ii) Paper II will be for a person who wants to be a teacher for classes VI to VIII.

A person who wants to become a teacher for both levels (classes I to V and classes VI to VIII) will have to appear in both the papers i.e. Paper I and Paper II.

Paper I can be given by any candidate who has Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) while Paper II can be given only by those who have B.Ed. degree.

Time duration and number of questions-

Both the papers will be conducted online which is also known as CBT (Computer Based Test). Each question paper will have 150 objective type questions with four options, candidates have to select the most appropriate answer. The time duration for each paper will be two and a half hours.

How can I prepare for CTET?

To prepare for CTET exam you must remember and follow a strategy-
1. Determine in which year/month you want to give exam
2. Go through the syllabus

8. Finish your syllabus one month before exam

How many attempts are allowed for CTET?

You can appear CTET exam any number of times as there is no restriction on the number of attempts. You can apply for CTET by going to the official portal i.e. https://ctet.nic.in/

What is the qualifying marks for CTET exam?

The qualifying marks for CTET exam is 60%. When you score 60% or more you are considered to be qualified for CTET. However qualifying CTET does not guarantee your appointment as a teacher your have to give super TET exam to be considered for the merit.

Is CTET certificate valid for lifetime?

Yes, CTET certificate is valid for lifetime with no expiry date. But you can give another exam to improve you score and ranking in CTET. A candidate can give CTET exam any number of times.
