Delhi Judicial Services (DJS) Notification 2023

DELHI HIGH COURT has invited online applications from eligible candidates for filling up 53 vacancies (44 existing & 09 anticipated) in Delhi Judicial Service. The details related to eligibility criteria, last date, exam date etc. are given below. Interested candidates can go through the official notification and apply from the official website of Delhi High Court, the link for the same is given below. It is a much awaited vacancy as last time DJS exam was conducted in the year April 2023. This year DJS Prelims examination date is 10 December 2023.

Eligibility Criteria-

A candidate shall be eligible to appear at the examination, if he is:-

  1. a citizen of India;
  2. a person practicing as an Advocate in India or a person qualified to be admitted as an Advocate under the Advocates Act, 1961; and
  3. not more than 32 years of age on the 1st day of January of the year in which the applications for appointment are invited, i.e., 01.01.2023.

Delhi Judicial Services DJS exam pattern-

Judicial Services exam is conducted in three stages.

  1. Preliminary Exam
  2. Mains Exam
  3. Personality Test/ Interview

Detailed syllabus and pattern of the examination is discussed below

Stage1. Preliminary Examination

Preliminary examination of Delhi Judicial Services exam is conducted offline in OMR sheet. It consists of 200 questions of one mark each and there will be 1/4 negative marking for each wrong answer.

In the preliminary examination questions will be asked to test the general legal knowledge and aptitude of the candidate, candidate’s power of expression, flair in English, and

Questions will also be asked from the following statutes

  1. The Constitution of India;
  2. The Code of Civil Procedure, 1908;
  3. The Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973;
  4. The Indian Penal Code;
  5. The Indian Contract Act, 1872;
  6. The Limited Liability Partnership Act, 2008;
  7. The Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996;
  8. The Indian Evidence Act, 1872;
  9. The Specific Relief Act, 1963;
  10. The Limitation Act, 1963;
  11. The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 and
  12. The Commercial Courts Act, 2015.

Note- Minimum qualifying marks in the preliminary examination shall be 60% for general category and 55% for reserved categories, i.e., Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and eligible categories of Persons with Disabilities as specified for this Service. However, the number of candidates to be admitted to the Mains Examination (Written) will not be more than ten times the total number of vacancies of each category advertised.

Note- Candidates of general category must secure minimum 40% marks in each written paper and 50% marks in the aggregate and candidates of reserved categories, i.e., Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and eligible categories of Persons with Disabilities as specified for this Service must secure minimum 35% marks in each written paper and 45% marks in the aggregate in Mains Examination (Written) to be eligible for being called for Viva Voce. Moreover, candidates shortlisted for viva voce shall not be more than three times the number of vacancies in each category advertised.

Stage 3. Viva-Voce/ Personality Test

Viva-Voce will carry 150 marks.
